Distance and time

Over two hours on the road: plan with a margin

Between Paris and Le Havre the route planner gives 198 to 224 km and 2 hr 13 min to 3 hr 15 min without traffic, along the Normandy motorway, checked on 19 October 2026. The range is wide because it depends on where in Paris you start and on the time of day.

For embarkation, a margin matters more than speed. Give us the cut-off time set by your cruise line: we set the departure time to match, with a buffer for traffic. The price stays fixed whether the drive takes two hours or three.

At the port

The cruise terminal, for embarkation and disembarkation

  • Pointe de Floride

Le Havre's cruise terminal stands at Pointe de Floride, 2.5 km from the town centre and the railway station, according to the tourist office. The driver drops you outside the terminal, as close as possible to luggage check-in.

  • Embarkation

Give the ship's name and the boarding cut-off time. The driver unloads the cases with you; the ship's formalities are then handled by the cruise line.

  • Disembarkation

The driver waits as you come out of the terminal, with a board bearing your name. Waiting rule if the ship docks late: [PORT WAITING: rule if the ship is late], confirmed in writing before you book.

Other starting points

From the airport, Disneyland, or on a one-day call

Many cruise passengers fly in and want to reach the port without a night in Paris, or go straight from the ship to the airport. Paris-CDG ↔ Le Havre, Orly ↔ Le Havre and Disneyland ↔ Le Havre are available on request: send the flight number, the embarkation or disembarkation time and the number of travellers, and our reply gives you a fixed price. They have no published price in our rate card yet, and we would rather not show a rough figure.

Is your ship calling at Le Havre for the day, and you want to see Paris? A same-day return with time in Paris can also be priced in advance, on request: give the docking time and the time you must be back on board. With a drive of that length, we will tell you honestly how much time is left in Paris.

An honest comparison

Train or private driver to reach your ship?

OptionStated timeWorth knowing
Train from Paris Saint-Lazare 2 hr 00 min for the fastest, 2 hr 11 min on average (SNCF Connect) You first have to get to Saint-Lazare with your luggage, then cover 2.5 km from Le Havre station to the terminal: shuttles link the cruise terminal with the town centre, and there is a taxi rank (no fare given).
Precelya private driver 198 to 224 km and 2 hr 13 min to 3 hr 15 min without traffic (route planner) €579 (sedan) · €669 (7-seat van) for the car, hotel to terminal, no changes and no carrying cases.

Train time: SNCF Connect Paris – Le Havre page, read on 19 October 2026; check the day's timetable on the SNCF website. We have not recorded a ticket price: it varies with the date and time.

In practice: two people with one case each and a hotel near Saint-Lazare will do fine by train. For a family, with the big cases of a one- or two-week cruise, or when boarding is early in the morning, a door-to-door ride removes the luggage on the metro, the change at Le Havre station and the doubt over the last stretch.

Families and groups

The V-Class van for families and groups

The van is a guaranteed Mercedes V-Class: 7 passengers and 7 bags, which suits a family of four or five with cruise luggage, or two couples travelling together. The model you book is the one that arrives, never another passed off as "similar". It is described on our 7-seat van with driver page.

For children, an age-appropriate seat is provided and fitted by the driver at no extra cost; in France it is compulsory up to age 10. On a drive of two hours or more, mention it in the request with each child's age. Details are on our family private driver page.
