Does the Paris airport taxi flat rate cover a family of 5?
The short answer
The official flat rate covers the whole ride, not each passenger: €56 between CDG and the Right Bank, €65 to the Left Bank, €36 between Orly and the Left Bank, €45 to the Right Bank.
For five people the decree adds €5.50 from the fifth passenger, and the taxi may charge €7 more when booked in advance: €68.50 from CDG to the Right Bank. You still need a car big enough: a seven-seat taxi at the flat rate is not an availability we could verify.

The four flat rates, with booking and the fifth passenger
The flat rate applies to a trip between the airport and Paris, in either direction, by day or by night. It is set per ride: four travellers or one, the starting amount is the same. Two extras come on top, both set by the same decree: €4 for an immediate booking or €7 for a booking made in advance, then €5.50 per passenger from the fifth.
The table applies those rules to a family of five. The last two columns are plain additions on the decree's figures and include nothing else.
| Trip | Flat rate | Booked in advance | Five people, booked in advance |
|---|---|---|---|
| CDG ↔ Paris Right Bank | €56 | €63 | €68.50 |
| CDG ↔ Paris Left Bank | €65 | €72 | €77.50 |
| Orly ↔ Paris Right Bank | €45 | €52 | €57.50 |
| Orly ↔ Paris Left Bank | €36 | €43 | €48.50 |
What the flat rate does not settle
Space comes first. The decree provides a surcharge from the fifth passenger, which assumes a car with five seats or more; yet a seven-seat taxi at the flat rate has not been verified as available. With six or seven travellers you will therefore need two taxis (the sum is worked out in the question on one van or two taxis at CDG) or a vehicle of another kind.
Then the scope. The decree sets flat rates only for trips between Paris and CDG or Orly: Beauvais and Le Bourget are not in it. Outside the flat rates the meter runs, with a pick-up charge of at most €4.48 and a minimum fare of €8. A ride to Disneyland or Versailles is therefore paid by the meter, with no amount known in advance.
Five travellers, children and suitcases
Article R412-2 of the French Highway Code exempts children carried in a taxi from the child-seat rule; the text does not mention chauffeur-driven private hire cars. A family with a baby or a small child may therefore take a taxi without a suitable seat without breaking that rule; if you want a seat on board, you must bring one or ask for it before you travel.
Luggage raises the same question: the decree we read does not mention it, so we say nothing about it. For five people the sum has to be done case by case: number of seats, boot space, the child's seat.
The van price at Precelya
For five people with their luggage we offer the guaranteed V-Class van: seven passengers, seven bags, one price per vehicle. It costs €125 between CDG and Paris and €115 between Orly and Paris, children included, by day or by night. The taxi flat rate is lower on paper; the van adds a vehicle booked in advance and tracked by flight number, 60 minutes of free waiting and a child seat fitted by the driver. The trip is described on the page CDG to Paris private transfer at a fixed price.
