Family of 8 at CDG: two vans, or a van and a sedan, how much?

The short answer

Eight travellers will not fit in any single car on our price list, so you need two. Two V-Class vans cost €250 between CDG and Paris, with 14 seats and room for 14 bags; a van plus an E-Class sedan costs €230, with 10 seats and 10 bags. Both are fixed prices, child seats included.

Two flat-rate taxis, four passengers in each, come to €112 for the Right Bank, or €126 when booked in advance. That is cheaper; on the other hand, the flat rate guarantees neither a child seat nor a car model.

Taxi flat rates checked on 18 October 2026 (decree of 24 December 2025). Precelya prices checked on 21 October 2026.

Three ways to move eight people, side by side

Our V-Class van seats 7 passengers and the E-Class sedan 3. Eight travellers is one more than a single van can take, so the real question is which second car to add. The table sets out what each option gives you, and what the taxi flat rate leaves unsaid.

The sedan takes no more than 3 people, so with a van and a sedan at least 5 of you ride in the van. Two vans leave spare room for suitcases and pushchairs alike, and let you split the group however suits you, two families of four for instance.

Two cars, one request

You send a single price request for the whole group. Each car comes with its own driver and its own name board for one of the passengers; both pick-ups are scheduled for the same time. Your flight is tracked: if the plane lands late, the pick-up time moves with it, and each of the two cars still waits 60 minutes free of charge.

Each vehicle keeps its own fixed price, and the total is confirmed before the ride: the same by day or by night, tolls and parking included. Each car then drives to the address you gave; we do not promise they will arrive together, since traffic has the last word. If your party is heading to two different addresses in Paris, say so in the request.

Against two flat-rate taxis

The taxi flat rate between CDG and Paris is set per ride: €56 for the Right Bank, €65 for the Left Bank. The decree allows €7 extra per car booked in advance. Two taxis therefore cost €112 or €126 for the Right Bank, and €130 or €144 for the Left Bank. With four passengers per taxi, the €5.50 charge per passenger from the fifth onwards does not apply.

Even in the dearest case, two taxis booked in advance to the Left Bank, the taxis stay below: €86 less than the van-and-sedan option. What the difference buys is everything the flat rate does not mention: a seat suited to each child, a model known in advance, and space planned for the luggage.

As a family

Splitting the children, pushchairs and suitcases

French road safety rules are plain: one person per seat. A baby therefore takes a seat just like an adult, and eight travellers need eight seats, whatever their ages. Before choosing the second car, count the people, then the suitcases, the pushchairs and the baby gear: it is that volume which tips the balance towards two vans rather than a van and a sedan.

A child under 10 does not ride in the front, except in the cases the rules allow. In practice, plan one adult in each car and spread the youngest across both. Every child seat suits the child's age and is fitted by the driver at no extra cost; tell us each child's age and which car they will travel in.

In a taxi, article R412-2 exempts children carried from the child-seat rule; the text does not say a seat will be on board. The standards are explained on the page car seat age rules in France.
