Private driver in Paris: do you pay per traveller or per vehicle?
The short answer
Per car. At Precelya, the fixed price covers the vehicle, not each passenger: from CDG to Paris, €105 in an E-Class sedan for 1 to 3 passengers, €125 in a guaranteed V-Class van for up to 7. The RER B works the other way, per person: €14 a ticket, which makes €56 for four and €98 for seven.
Split the van price seven ways and it comes to €17.86 a head: the train is still cheaper, at €14. Against taxis, though, the van sits between two doubled flat fares: €112 for two Right Bank taxis, €130 for two Left Bank taxis.

Three ways of pricing a trip
Per person. Every traveller buys a ticket, so the total rises with the size of the group. That is how the RER B to CDG works, and the ticket to Orly too, at €14 each. Shared shuttles also charge per passenger, sometimes with a child fare: the Magical Shuttle, which runs from the airports to Disneyland Paris, lists €24 per adult and €11 per child, so €70 for two adults and two children (checked on 12 October 2026).
Per ride, with a surcharge. Paris taxis charge a flat fare between the airport and the city, the same for one passenger or four. From the fifth passenger they add €5.50 per head, and booking ahead can cost €7 more.
Per car. A fixed-price private driver charges for the vehicle. The amount is the same for one to three passengers in a sedan, and for four to seven in a van: only the number of seats decides which car you need.
The sums for 1, 4 and 7 travellers, CDG to Paris
The table sets the three approaches side by side on the same trip. The taxi is counted at the Right Bank flat fare, with no booking charge; the last row simply divides the Precelya price by the number of travellers.
| Option | 1 traveller | 4 travellers | 7 travellers |
|---|---|---|---|
| RER B, one ticket per person | €14 | €56 | €98 |
| Taxi flat fare, Right Bank | €56 | €56 | two taxis: €112 |
| Precelya, E-Class sedan (up to 3) | €105 | too small | too small |
| Precelya, guaranteed V-Class van (up to 7) | €125 | €125 | €125 |
| Precelya, vehicle price divided by the number of travellers | €105 (sedan) | €31.25 | €17.86 |
To the Left Bank, the taxi flat fare rises to €65, and two taxis to €130. With seven people, a taxi with enough seats would add €5.50 for each passenger beyond the fourth; otherwise you need two cars.
What the sums show
Travelling alone, the per-car price is the heaviest: one person pays €105 in a sedan, against €14 on the RER and €56 by Right Bank taxi. With four, the van divided by four comes to €31.25 a head, and a Right Bank taxi costs the same as four RER tickets: €56 against €56.
With seven, the gap narrows without reversing: €17.86 a head in the van, €14 on the RER. Against taxis, the van at €125 costs more than two Right Bank taxis at the basic flat fare (€112), and less than two Right Bank taxis booked ahead (€126) or two Left Bank taxis (€130). The bigger the group, the closer the per-car price gets to the others; what it adds is one vehicle, one driver and no change of train.
From Orly, the same logic
For four travellers, tickets to Orly add up to €56. The taxi flat fare is €45 if you stay on the Right Bank, €36 on the Left Bank, per ride. The Precelya van costs €115 for the vehicle, which is €28.75 a head once divided by four; for up to three passengers, the sedan is €95.
Children, seats and luggage: what counts in the price
When choosing the vehicle, every child counts: French road safety rules allow only one person per seat. Two adults and two children make four passengers, so the van, which also takes up to 7 bags, against 3 in the sedan.
The child seat follows the same rule as the price: it comes with the car and is not charged per child. Suited to the child's age and fitted by the driver, it is included at no extra cost. Where a shuttle separates adult and child fares, a per-car price stays the same, whatever the passengers' ages.
Precelya prices, vehicle by vehicle
Each price is for the car, confirmed before the ride and unchanged at any hour. It includes 60 minutes of waiting offered at the airport, flight tracking, tolls and parking. The full price list is on the page private driver prices in Paris.
