Why a professional private driver, rather than Uber, Bolt or a taxi?

The short answer

Because a private driver booked in advance has one job to do: your ride. He tracks your flight, waits for you with a name board, fits the child seat and handles the luggage, for a price agreed before you set off. An app publishes averages or estimates; a taxi charges a flat fare, with no child seat guaranteed.

That choice has a cost: from CDG, our sedan costs more than a flat-fare taxi and more than Uber's published Berline average. The table further down gives the figures.

Uber averages and Bolt estimate checked on 12 October 2026; taxi flat fares read on 18 October 2026; our prices checked on 26 October 2026.

What we put in writing

A driver who is there for you alone

The driver booked for your journey takes no other ride before yours. That leaves time to prepare and clean the car, to follow your plane's real arrival time, then to wait for you in the arrivals area with your name on a board. On arrival and on departure, he takes care of the luggage. The driving is calm and safe.

What worries travellers most is a flight that lands very late. So we have put it in writing: a flight delay, however long, never leaves you without a car. The driver stays, or we send another one in his place.

What every price includes, the same list on every page of this site:

  • Fixed price confirmed before the ride, unchanged at any hour
  • Age-appropriate child seat fitted by the driver, at no extra cost
  • 60 minutes of free waiting time at airports, 30 at railway stations, 15 elsewhere
  • Flight and train tracking: pick-up time follows any delay
  • Meet and greet with a name board
  • Tolls and parking included
  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick-up
  • A driver devoted to your ride: no ride before yours, a car prepared and cleaned, and he waits for you
  • A flight delay, however long, never leaves you without a car: the driver stays, or we replace him
  • Help with luggage on arrival and departure, calm and safe driving
Published promises, dated survey

What an app or a taxi does not promise

We pass no judgement on any driver. We compare what each offer publishes, as we read it on 12 October 2026.

A price known in advance

For CDG → Paris, Uber publishes an average of €83 for Berline and €84 for Van; for Orly → Paris, €62 for Berline. These are published averages, not guaranteed. Bolt showed an estimate of €82.90 for a van from the Eiffel Tower to Terminal 2E. An estimate is not a commitment.

A guaranteed child seat

In France, children must travel in a suitable restraint up to age 10. Uber does not guarantee a child seat. The Highway Code exempts taxis from that rule (article R412-2): a taxi does not have to carry one, even when booked ahead, which can add €7 to the fare.

Waiting time in writing

Among transfer platforms, the usual rule we found is 60 minutes of waiting offered once you land; some offer less: 45 minutes at Booking.com, 5 by sedan at Allocab. We give 60 minutes, written into every price.

The same price at night

Among the offers we read, only taxis and one platform stated the same price day and night. Welcome Pickups, for instance, listed €63 by day and €73 at night for a sedan from CDG to Paris.

An all-in family price

No offer we read showed an up-front family price covering seats and luggage, apart from the group fares of a coach to Disneyland. And no competitor we read promised any compensation if their driver was late; nor do we, until our rule is set (see our guarantees).

Private driver

What a private driver changes, compared with a taxi or an app

A private driver gives his time to your ride: he takes no ride before yours, prepares and cleans the car, tracks your flight and stands at arrivals holding your name, then helps with the luggage. If the plane lands an hour late, he is still there; if the delay stretches on, he stays or we replace him. The driving is calm and safe. These commitments are written here in black and white; a metered ride or an app estimate carries none of them.

For the price gap shown, you are buying peace of mind: a driver who has only you, a car that is ready, and nobody to look for on arrival.

Why a private driver rather than Uber, Bolt or a taxi: the full answer.

Who it suits

When a private driver makes the difference

Families

Tell us the children's ages; the driver brings the right seat and fits it. The price covers the whole car, whoever is in it. See our family private driver in Paris page.

Late-night arrivals

A plane that lands late does not change the fare, and the driver tracks the flight to be there when you actually arrive.

Groups

Our V-Class van seats 7 passengers, model guaranteed. For eight, an 8-seat van driven by a partner driver: the capacity is guaranteed, not the model. Everyone arrives together.

Business trips

The fare is known before you book and does not move with the traffic. The driver waits for you by name, and the car is ready.

Private driver, app or taxi: your questions

Is a private driver more expensive than a taxi from CDG?

Yes, for a simple transfer: the taxi flat fare to the Right Bank is €56 in 2026, our E-Class sedan €105. The difference pays for a driver booked for you alone, your flight tracked, a name board on arrival and a child seat fitted.

Is the price Uber publishes guaranteed?

No. For CDG → Paris, Uber publishes averages that are not guaranteed: €83 for Berline and €84 for Van, as checked on 12 October 2026. Our price is set before you book.

Is a private driver the same as an app driver?

Both drive private hire cars. What sets one offer apart from another is what is promised in writing: a fixed price, free waiting time, a child seat, flight tracking. Ours are listed on this page and on our guarantees page.

What happens if my flight is badly delayed?

You are not left without a car: the driver tracks the flight and, if the delay drags on, he stays, or we send another driver in his place.
