A driver for New Year's Eve in Paris: how much, and how do you get home at 3 am?
The short answer
On New Year's Eve, a private driver is booked by the hour, for at least 3 hours: €72 an hour in an E-Class sedan, so €216 for the shortest evening, and €88 an hour in a V-Class van, so €264. Fixed price confirmed before the ride, unchanged at any hour, and on 31 December just like any other night: the price list has only one price. For a single ride home at a time you choose, a ride within Paris costs €69 for the car.
The price stays put; the city does not. Last year, on 31 December 2025, the police prefecture's order provided for: no traffic within a perimeter around the Étoile and the Champs-Élysées from 2 pm on 31 December to 4 am on 1 January; the avenue des Champs-Élysées closed from 3 pm. RATP, for its part, announced several metro, RER, Transilien, tram and Noctilien lines running all night, free travel except to the airports. The city on 31 December, last year
On 31 December 2025, RATP closed stations for security reasons: Charles de Gaulle – Étoile and Argentine closed from 2 pm; George V, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Concorde, Champs-Élysées – Clemenceau, Tuileries and others from 4 pm; most reopened at about 1 am. On the streets, the same order also set out: parking banned on some fifty streets of the 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissements, from 10 pm on 30 December to 4 am on 1 January.
On an ordinary eve of a public holiday, the metro runs until about 2:15 am, according to RATP. New Year's Eve 2026 falls on a Thursday and 1 January 2027 on a Friday: the night opens a long weekend. Last year, several metro and RER lines ran all night; which ones will run this year is for the plan announced in December to say. Check your line and your station before counting on them.
Getting home at 3 am: metro, taxi or private driver
Three ways home: the metro if it stays free and open, a taxi, metered inside Paris since no flat fare applies there, or a private driver booked ahead, for a single ride home or the whole evening.

What a private driver changes, compared with a taxi or an app
A private driver gives his time to your ride: he takes no ride before yours, prepares and cleans the car, tracks your flight and stands at arrivals holding your name, then helps with the luggage. If the plane lands an hour late, he is still there; if the delay stretches on, he stays or we replace him. The driving is calm and safe. These commitments are written here in black and white; a metered ride or an app estimate carries none of them.
For the price gap shown, you are buying peace of mind: a driver who has only you, a car that is ready, and nobody to look for on arrival.

An example: dinner in the 6th, midnight by the river, home to the 17th
The driver collects you from home at 8 pm and drops you at the restaurant in the 6th. After dinner, you are taken as close as possible to the riverbanks for the stroke of midnight; the driver waits, then brings you back to the 17th, where you are home by 2:30 am. From 8 pm to 2:30 am the evening lasts 6 hours 30 minutes: book 7 hours, until 3 am, to keep a margin. In a sedan that comes to €504; in a van, €616, with 140 km included.

The driver in a closed-off city
No car enters a perimeter closed to traffic, with or without a driver. If your celebration is near the Étoile or the Champs-Élysées, the driver leaves you, then collects you, as close as possible outside the closed perimeter, and you walk the last stretch. Times and drop-off and pick-up points are set when you book, based on the plan published in December; the price for the time you book is confirmed before the evening.

If you are sleeping in Paris
To be straight with you: for getting home within Paris without luggage, last year's free metro was unbeatable, provided your line was running and your station was open. For a couple with a hotel a few stops away and comfortable shoes, a car is not a must.
It becomes one when the nearest station is closed, when your address is far from any open line, with children or elderly parents, or when you would rather find the car waiting at the agreed time. Outside Paris, a single ride home is priced on request.
