Arriving at CDG as a student with three suitcases: RER B or a private driver to your accommodation?

The short answer

The RER B is the cheapest option: €14 per person, about 30 minutes to central Paris. With three suitcases and a bag, though, you then carry everything along the corridors, through a change of line depending on the address, and on foot to your door. The taxi flat fare is €65 to the Left Bank and €56 to the Right Bank; a private driver costs €105 in a sedan, right to the building's front door.

Three suitcases is exactly what the E-Class sedan takes: 3 pieces of luggage for 3 passengers. Two students with six suitcases need the guaranteed V-Class van, at €125 for the car.

Tickets and RER B checked on 18 October 2026, route on 28 October 2026. Sources: RATP, Paris Région ↔ Airports ticket, RATP, getting to CDG by RER B, decree of 24 December 2025 on taxi fares and Mappy, Roissy → Paris 5th.

The sums, alone or as two

You pay for the train per person, for a taxi or a driver per car: on your own the gap is wide; for two of you it narrows. The table only shows published, dated prices, with no Uber or shuttle, for lack of a reading. There is no special student price: you pay for the car, at the same price as everyone.

Private driver

What a private driver changes, compared with a taxi or an app

A private driver gives his time to your ride: he takes no ride before yours, prepares and cleans the car, tracks your flight and stands at arrivals holding your name, then helps with the luggage. If the plane lands an hour late, he is still there; if the delay stretches on, he stays or we replace him. The driving is calm and safe. These commitments are written here in black and white; a metered ride or an app estimate carries none of them.

For the price gap shown, you are buying peace of mind: a driver who has only you, a car that is ready, and nobody to look for on arrival.

Why a private driver rather than Uber, Bolt or a taxi: the full answer.

The RER B with three suitcases, in practice

At CDG the RER B leaves from two stations: "Airport CDG 1" for terminals 1 and 3, "Airport CDG 2" for terminal 2. The free CDGVAL shuttle links the terminals to the stations. From the CDG 2 station, allow about 10 minutes on foot to halls 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F, and about 15 to 2A and 2B: with three suitcases, those minutes count.

The "Paris Région ↔ Airports" ticket does not come on paper: you load it onto a Navigo Easy pass, a phone or a watch. It is valid for 2 hours, connections included. The reduced fare of €7 follows the operator's conditions, which are worth reading on the RATP website before you count on it. If you already hold a monthly or annual Navigo pass, you need no extra ticket.

The ride takes around thirty minutes to the centre. The RER B runs from about 5 am to midnight: a late landing, with passport control and baggage claim still ahead, can mean missing it.

When the RER B is enough

To be fair, plenty of students arrive perfectly well by RER B. It is the right call if you travel with a single bag or one wheeled case, if your residence is a few minutes from an RER B station, if you land in daytime and if budget comes first.

The sums change with three suitcases, a change of line, an address far from a station, or an evening arrival after a long flight. That is when the car earns its price.

The private driver: from the name board to the building's door

Your driver waits in the arrivals area: "meet and greet with a name board". If a parent books, they give the student's name, the one written on the board. The flight is tracked by its number, and the free waiting time is 60 minutes from the actual landing. The driver loads the cases: "help with luggage on arrival and departure".

From Roissy, Mappy gives 23.2 to 30.4 km and 38 to 48 minutes to the Latin Quarter, without traffic and toll-free: an indication, not a promise. The price, on the other hand, is set before departure and does not move with the traffic. The driver drops you at the building's front door, not up to your floor.

For a residence in the inner suburbs, the CDG ↔ Paris price does not apply as it stands: request a price with the exact address.

Booking from abroad

To arrange the arrival from abroad, the request form is all it takes: date, flight number, accommodation address, number of passengers and suitcases. Nothing is paid at that stage. We reply by email within 2 hours to a request sent between 7 am and 1 am, Paris time; between 1 am and 7 am, the reply comes during the morning.

The written confirmation gives the date, route, vehicle, fixed price and when payment is due; the ride is booked once you accept it. This website never asks for your card. On the day, a message gives the driver's name, a number to reach them and the vehicle. The details are on the how it works page.

Precelya

Precelya prices, sedan or van

The price is fixed for the car, unchanged at any hour, tolls and parking included; cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pick-up. On your own with three suitcases, it is the sedan; two of you with six, the van. The trip is described in full on the page CDG to Paris private transfer.
